Badalassi Carlo Pueblo and Wickett & Craig English Bridle anchor the workshop. Both are vegetable-tanned cowhide, but the surface, structure, and way they age give a finished piece a completely different read.

Full-grain Italian vegetable-tanned leather with a rustic matte surface and a soft, hand-rubbed feel. Its surface gains sheen and a pronounced patina as it is handled and carried.

Occasional leather
Some materials make sense for a particular build, batch, or limited edition run. These leathers are not part of the custom builds as they are not carried on hand at all times.

A fine-grained goatskin Moonlight reaches for selectively when a build needs a thinner leather with a firm hand and a very different surface from the core cowhides.

Occasional leather · Special stock
Used occasionally on The Jeffrey and other small goods when the right hide is available. Its pronounced grain makes it a special material rather than a standing color collection.
Thread
Moonlight uses two specific hand-sewing threads rather than treating thread as a generic color choice. Linen and braided polyester bring different character to the same hand-stitched construction.

The more traditional stitch. Lin Cable has a softer, more natural-looking line that sits comfortably next to handmade leatherwork and gives the seam a little more texture of its own.

The tougher synthetic option. Tiger Thread is strong, consistent, and well suited to hand-stitched pieces that are expected to take plenty of daily use.

Cutting exposes the fibers at the edge of the hide. Finishing compacts and polishes that edge so it feels intentional, holds up better in use, and looks like part of the finished object.

Tokonole is worked into the cut edge and polished with friction to smooth and compact the leather fibers. It is one of the small bench products behind the clean, finished edge on a Moonlight piece.

Black, antique brass, and nickel describe the surface you see. The base material underneath matters too, and Moonlight’s current hardware mix includes both solid brass and solid iron components.
